‘When I first joined Built to Last, I’d hit a plateau in terms of my approach to training, fitness & eating. I needed to make significant & sustainable changes.
Pre BTL I used to get 6 to 8 hrs a week on a bike & felt I could eat anything I wanted. The phrase ‘you can’t out run a bad diet’ is absolutely relevant.
So things needed to change & I’d heard Kirk speak on a radio station & liked how he came across.
I wanted more structure into my week & truly understand food.
There are great coaches within Kirk’s team such as Chris Lowe, who’s an expert in terms of sports nutrition. Other people’s experiences on the programme can also offer a massive amount in terms of food prep & planning. There’s so much information that you can draw from & I’ve taken advantage of.
I’ve gone from 74 kg to 68 kg & you could argue that I wasn’t in the worst place in the world. But there’s been a tremendous difference in terms of body composition. I’ve enjoyed the lifting more, which was something that I had done historically, albeit in a very limited way.
Understanding how to lift through different strategies & techniques, has been a real eye opener for me.
I’ve worked around sports injuries for over 27 years, yet how Kirk approaches his strength based workouts is very unique.
If things aren’t improving, they examine why & exactly what’s needed to create change.
What Kirk’s been able to do, is really consolidate that & deliver it in a meaningful honest way.
If you’re considering the programme? You have to know why you want to change.
I’m the fittest & healthiest I’ve ever been, even though I’m 50 next year. I’ve really enjoyed everything about the process and future proofing my future self and health.
So if you’re looking for a programme, which is led by a leader in his field, who is easily accessible, who is very open & will challenge you to make a difference, with a community that holds everyone to account – then definitely look at the BTL programme.’
